Miro contracted by Boeing Defence UK for British Army programme

February 9, 2012

Bristol, UK – February 9, 2012 – Miro Technologies, the market leader for sustainment of complex military assets, announced today a contract award from Boeing Defence UK to implement a GOLDesp solution that will provide British land forces the capability to identify, track and trace ITAR controlled items within forward areas. The Dismounted Close Combat Asset Management Programme (DCCAMP) expands Miro’s role as subcontractor to Boeing Defence UK in the Logistics Network Enabled Capability (LogNEC) programme.

The GOLDesp solution for DCCAMP will provide British Army land forces with Item Unique Identification (IUID) capability that will ultimately be extended to over 350,000 items and will be included in other GOLDesp (LogNEC DP) implementations.

IUID is an electronic means of reporting government property in the possession of a contractor to a government’s IUID Registry. The IUID Registry receives data – from industry and government sources, stores data, and provides access to data that identifies and describes government property. To accomplish this, individual items of property are “marked” with a Unique Item Identifier (UII). The data passed to the government IUID Registry includes item particular data, marking data, end product data and custody data.

Miro Technologies serves as a prime subcontractor to Boeing Defence UK in the fulfillment of LogNEC, a programme that assists the MOD in the transformation of its end-to-end logistics support chain and integrates more than 200 software applications used to mange logistics data. Miro will provide software and consulting, development, implementation, and replacement and sustainment of the Base Inventory Management System project (BIMS-A) for the MOD Air environment. The MOD currently employs Miro’s GOLDesp application to serve as their enterprise and asset management (E&AM) system in support of over 800 aircraft and 400,000 rotable assets across the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army.
