Under a new contract, Tapestry Solutions, a subsidiary of Boeing Global Services, is providing the U.S. Air Force with mission planning software solutions for combat air forces and global strike platforms.

  • The work supports the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Why it matters: The new award focuses on sustaining and modernizing mission planning software for U.S. F-22, F-15, B-52, and B-1 aircraft; F-15s for Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Singapore; and Canada’s F/A-18 legacy aircraft.

  • Tapestry’s work will transform mission planning solutions for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and Foreign Military Sales partners over the coming decades and safeguard proprietary information critical to supporting Boeing platforms.
  • The mission planning software contract will also provide government customers with a superior advantage in the Indo-Pacific Command Area of Responsibility by 2027.

Driving the news: “This follow-on contract reinforces our long-standing trusted partnership with the Mission Planning Enterprise and positions Tapestry to significantly advance mission planning capabilities,” said Debbie Churchill, president of Tapestry Solutions. “Our work, along with industry collaborations, will integrate several system applications to produce the final software package for platform use.”

How it works: The updated software will enhance situational awareness and decision making with near real-time data and streamline operations by reducing mission planning time. It will also make it easier to update avionics to meet future mission requirements.

  • Work will be performed by Tapestry in collaboration with partners MORSE Corp, UNCOMN, Digital Software Solutions, Zavarro Corp, EN|VEIL, MTI, and Boeing Phantom Works.
  • Software development will take place primarily in St. Louis, with integration, testing and distribution occurring within Boeing classified facilities. Upon receipt, the Air Force will install the new software at planning center locations across the globe.

Go deeper: For 40 years, Tapestry has provided mission planning solutions for Boeing and non-Boeing platforms.
