Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing
Michael (Mike) Spencer is Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing for Tapestry Solutions, where he leads efforts to maintain and grow Tapestry’s core domestic and international business and spearheads strategic expansion into new markets.
Prior to joining Tapestry, Spencer held several senior and executive positions in the administration of enterprise-wide IT infrastructures and led the U.S. Army’s largest, most capable Battle Simulations Center. Spencer was instrumental in the development of the U.S. Army’s first platform that served as both a training simulation and a Command and Control (C2) system.
Spencer conceived and implemented the U.S. Army’s largest live, virtual, and constructive exercise, Victory Strike and later in his career he led the development and implementation of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Decision Support Environment. His last position in the U.S. Army was as the Deputy Chief Information Officer, Joint Staff, retiring as a Colonel in 2008. He oversaw IT support to senior DoD members/ their staff and led operation, maintenance and enhancement of the Joint Staff global enterprise IT environment.
Prior to the Joint Staff, Spencer held key staff and command positions from 1st Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel as both an Army Aviator and Systems Automations Officer, with key assignments with 11th Armor Cavalry Regiment, 12th Aviation Brigade, Defense Intelligence Agency, 7th Army Training Command and Joint Staff.
A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY, Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Weapon Systems Engineering. He also holds a master's degree in International Relations from the U.S. Naval War College, Naval Station Newport, RI. Spencer also holds pilot ratings in the AH-1S, UH-1H, OH-58C, and Cessna 152/172/182.
