One of the most comprehensive Homeland Security (HLS) training simulations available.
Computer simulations have played a pivotal role in helping people come to grips with some of the most complex problems and scenarios. The reason is simple; some problems are too complex to figure out on paper. So why are so many HLS training events still driven primarily by scripts? Perhaps because there was no good alternative, until now.
TAPESTRY DEFENDER® is a computer-based training simulation capable of exercising even the largest, most complex response plans. It fills the large void that exists between the abundant variety of analytical models, and scripts or MSEL tools. It provides a "staff trainer" that accomplishes the same goals of exercise scripts, but in a manner that lets the computer figure out many of the complex interactions, or "cause and effect" in an exercise.
TAPESTRY DEFENDER® reduces the effort required to plan and conduct Homeland Security exercises. Once a response plan is built into the TAPESTRY DEFENDER® simulation, training events can be conducted with little more than the press of the "play" button. TAPESTRY DEFENDER® will provide a level of realism to the training audience that will leave them thinking you have an army of role players reporting data and calculating the effects of decisions made in the exercise. You didn’t have an army of role players, you simply had TAPESTRY DEFENDER®.
TAPESTRY DEFENDER® represents a paradigm shift in Homeland Security and Disaster training. Never before has the capability of simulating all of the complex and interacting parts of a response plan been so easy.
Ability to Exercise Response Plans
While it’s nice to finally get that response plan written or updated, wouldn’t it be even nicer if you could visualize the plan as well? If you build the response plan into TAPESTRY DEFENDER®, you can then visualize the plan as easily as clicking the "play" button. Additionally, you will gain an ability to exercise your plan with little extra effort.
National Planning Scenarios Support
TAPESTRY DEFENDER® can train earthquake, hurricane, biological, nuclear, radiological, and disease related National Planning Scenarios. Many scenarios not included in the national scenarios can also be trained.
Robust disaster logistics
When a dirty bomb explodes, an earthquake strikes, or a biological attack occurs, most of the activites that follow are logistics activities. TAPESTRY DEFENDER® has high-fidelity logistics modeling that includes medical, maintenance/repair teams, supply/consumption, and transportation of supplies and response personnel.
Evacuation, Sheltering & Mass Care
The mass evacuation and sheltering of evacuees from a major metropolitan area is a massively complex problem. Fortunately, there are analytical models to help you plan. Unfortunately, there were no training simulations to help you exercise all of the interdependent parts of a major evacuation, until now. With TAPESTRY DEFENDER®, you can portray your population centers, demographics, evacuation behavior, evacuation routes, shelters, comfort stations, refueling points, and even your evacuation transportation assets. It will even consume supplies at shelters, comfort stations, and refueling points.
Infrastructure
TAPESTRY DEFENDER® allows you to define infrastructure and facilities. To make things easy for you, we can import much of the data from HAZUS. Disasters and events can cause damage to infrastructure and facilities. To provide some examples of the realism it provides, damage to transportation facilities and infrastructure will degrade movement, damage to electrical facilities will cause power outages that will force facilities with generators to turn on their generators. Of course, the generators consume fuel, which require resupply. Facilities and infrastructure can be repaired by repair teams.
Tailorable Participation
Most of the functionality in TAPESTRY DEFENDER® can be set to either full manual or automatic mode to allow for adjusting to the training objectives.
