- Provide Oracle DB administration for AME system top tier servers
- Provide Oracle DB administration assistance to AME field service engineers; includes assisting in real-time troubleshooting and advice.
- Analyze AME DB system performance and propose database tuning enhancements, prepare detailed instructions about implementing enhancements
- Assist local AME field service engineer in supporting local units with system support and training.
- On a temporary assignment basis, augment AME Field Service team at duty locations
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A solid background in knowledge and experience in Oracle DB administration is required. Success in this job is dependent on the abiity to act independently and analyze a variety of information to form a clear picture of reality, and work within a small inter-discipline team to implement a solution. Strong communication, troubleshooting, and investigative skills coupled with military system support are a strong advantage. Education and/or Experience
Associates Degree plus 5 years experience or equivalent. Desired: Oracle Associate Certificate.Experience in supporting an operational, multi-node, replicating Oracle system highly desired. Experinece in operational db system tuning. Knowledge of network communication concepts, principles and architectures, associated with network planning, design, integration and maintenance. End-to End knowledge of network transport technoligies, systems, environments, services, protocols, performance monitoring and diagnostic analysis.
Skills and Abilities
This position also requires the ability to work in a dynamic environment, responding to real time operational situations. In addition the Administrator must be able to operate with deployed and CONUS based military operations centers and field based commands. These locations may be in austere environments and be physically separated from substantial life support and other Tapestry personnel. The ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and under stressful conditions is essential.
Other Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of client-server architectures, relational databases (Sybase), and network secruity. Knowledge of USN/USMC aircraft logbooks is beneficial. Must have current secret clearance.
Physical Demands

This position requires working at the computer viewing the screens and typing, communicating on the phone. Duties may be carried out in extremely hot and dusty environments.
