TAPESTRY WELCOMES NEW F/A-18 AME FIELD SUPPORT ENGINEERS

YORKTOWN, VA Nov. 16, 2009 This month marks the one-year anniversary of the acquisition of Tapestry Solutions by The Boeing Company. In the last twelve months, great strides have taken place in the fulfillment of The Boeing Company’s vision for Tapestry in a key position of executing the Boeing’s Mobility and Logistics Command and Control strategy, as well as gaining synergies across all mission areas. Today represented another key milestone as Tapestry hired 14 new Field Support Engineers supporting Boeing’s F/A-18 Automated Maintenance Environment (AME) Program. Senior Director of Operations and Training, Ron Isom and COO, Sam DeFord, welcomed the eager new hires and explained what it means to be part of the Tapestry legacy of excellence in support to the field. 

Tapestry selected team members after a very intense and accelerated hiring process for these vital positions based in locations throughout the US and in Japan. Their demanding training starts at Tapestry’s Operations Training & Support Directorate training facility in Yorktown, VA followed by a three-week training session at the Boeing facility in St Louis, MO.

Mr DeFord explained to the group their significant role in supporting the customers.  Mr. DeFord stated, “Tapestry is known in the defense industry for going above and beyond to fulfill the customer’s mission. We’ve hired you because you’ve shown these qualities that will carry on that tradition.” Mr. Isom expanded on that philosophy, “When you are out there in the field, the customer should not realize that we are contractors. They should think of us as one of their own.”
