At this exercise Mississippi officials used Tapestry Defender™ to help practice evacuation plans using a system of buses to evacuate coastal areas. During Hurricane Katrina they did not have a bus evacuation plan in place, making it difficult for residents to get to a safe location. Mississippi currently has residents in approximately 10,000 FEMA trailers since Hurricane Katrina and they wanted to test their notification and evacuation plans for residents in direct harm’s way, if another weather emergency hits.
